DU Wraps Up Road Trip at North Dakota State

FARGO, N.D. – The University of Denver women's basketball team will take on North Dakota State at 12 pm MT on Saturday afternoon in the second matchup of the season.

Denver sits at 12-11 and 5-5 in the Summit League but the Pios ride a three-game losing streak dating back to January 31st. During the streak the Crimson and Gold have not eclipsed the 70-point mark while failing to reach 60 points in the loss at Purdue Fort Wayne. Head coach Jim Turgeon's team will look to get the season sweep of NDSU after cruising past the Bison 81-54 in the Mile High City on January 17th. In the win DU had three double-digit scorers including a 27 point performance from junior Madison Nelson. Denver features an offense that ranks sixth in 3-point percentage (39.9 percent) and 13th in scoring offense (80.1 points per game) and 3s per game (9.6 per game). Nelson (15.4 points per game) along with teammates Lauren Loven (15.3 points per game), Samantha Romanowski (11.7 points per game) and Claire Gritt (10.7 points per game) all average double-figures to lead the Pioneers high paced offense.

NDSU is 6-16 overall and 3-6 in the Summit League and the Bison have lost four-consecutive games since beating North Dakota 69-57 on January 20th. Despite the struggles, North Dakota State is 5-4 at home including Summit League wins over Purdue Fort Wayne, Western Illinois and North Dakota. NDSU scores just 58.2 points per game but are led by Michelle Gaislerova (15.3 points per game), Rylee Nudell (9.0 points per game), Emily Dietz (8.4 points per game) and Sofija Zivaljevic (8.4 points per game) who combine for more than half of the offensive production for fifth-year head coach Maren Walseth. In their three Summit League victories, the Bison have controlled the pace, holding opponents to just 57 points per game. NDSU will need solid offensive production for its top four players to keep up with the fast-paced Pioneers and avoid the season sweep.
