How old were you when you started playing volleyball? What made you fall in love with the sport?
I was about 8 years old when I first started to play organized volleyball. I fell in love with the fast pace of the sport as well as the people involved in volleyball in Minnesota. The girls and coaches at Osseo and MN Select are what really hooked me from the beginning.
What makes this team so fun and special?
To me, what makes this team so fun to be a part of is how each of our personalities come together and make every moment interesting. Even with our busy schedule, there is a lot of down time sitting in the locker room or on the bus while traveling, and there is never a dull moment with this team. We are always laughing about something. I think the true sign of a special team chemistry is knowing how to make even the dull moments memorable.
What made you want to come to the University of Denver when you were being recruited?
When I first visited Denver, I didn't know what to expect at all. But, while talking to the coaching staff I discovered that Denver really had everything I wanted in a college (plus mountains!) and any potential issue I could think of had a solution on the way. I just couldn't find a major red flag with the school or the program, so I figured this place must be meant for me.
What is your dream job after you graduate college?
To be a Data Analyst for Google.
What advice would you give to athletes who want to play collegiate volleyball?
My one piece of advice would be that no matter your skill level, if you make yourself the hardest working player on whatever court you are on then you will end up catching the eye of a college coach. Your work ethic is always in your control.
What hobbies do you have outside of volleyball?
Outside of volleyball, my favorite things to do are try out new coffee shops in the area (recommendations welcome!), driving around listening to music with my teammates, read, watch movies, and cook lots and lots of food.
What is your favorite memory you have with the team?
From the past two years, I would say my favorite moment with the whole team would have to be waiting for the bus to take us over to the gym in Provo, Utah last season. The anticipation of going into a big game together really made me feel close to everyone on the team. That moment of excitement and readiness to put it all out there was one I will never forget.
