DENVER – The No. 5-ranked University of Denver women's gymnastics team will compete at the Corvallis Region hosted by Oregon State University on April 4-6, 2019, the NCAA announced during the National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Selection Show on Monday.
Denver will be the region's No. 2 seed and the highest-ranked No. 2 seed in the nation. This is just the third time in program history that DU has held at No. 2 seed.
DU will compete in the first session of the Second Round on Friday, April 5, against No. 12-ranked Boise State, No. 18 Washington and No. 24 Southern Utah. The second session will feature No. 4 Florida, No. 15 and host Oregon State, No. 25 Stanford and the winner of the First Round meet between Iowa and Arizona.
The top two teams from each Second Round session will advance to Regional Final on April 6. The top two finishers at the Regional Final will advance to the NCAA National Championship in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Pioneers have now advanced to NCAA Regionals in 21 consecutive seasons and every season with head coach
Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart. In 2018, Denver competed at the Minneapolis Regional and finished third with the second-highest NCAA Regionals score in DU history (196.275).
Denver tallied the highest-ever postseason score in program history (197.250) at the Big 12 Championship, extending its streak of 197+ scores to eight straight meets. DU will enter the Corvallis Regional with a National Qualifying Score of 197.545, a new program record by more than half a tenth.
The No. 5-ranked University of Denver gymnastics team, presented by Your Hometown Toyota Stores, is seeking its fifth appearance the NCAA National Championships and its first since 2017.
