DENVER – Incoming University of Denver gymnast
Stefanie Gatin grabbed two top-10 finishes at the 2026 Canadian Championships in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada on May 27-29.
Gatin placed ninth in the all-around and eighth on beam during the two-day competition that featured four Olympians.
Her ninth-place finish in the all-around is a seven-spot improvement over her senior debut at the meet in 2025. She has now placed eighth on beam in back-to-back Canadian Championships at the senior level.
Additionally, she tied for No. 12 on floor and tied for No. 16 on bars. She did not compete two different vaults, making her ineligible for a final placement on the event.
Across the two days of competition, she posted top scores of 13.300 on vault, 12.75 on beam (fourth highest overall on Day 1), 11.95 on floor and 10.700 on bars. She scored a 48.250 in the all-around on Day 1 – the day's eighth highest score – and followed it up with a 47.750 on Day 2.
Gatin will be the first international gymnast at Denver since
Melodie Pulgarin Linero (Spain) in 2011-14.
The Canadian Championships was Gatin's final meet before enrolling at Denver this fall. She will be one of seven newcomers to the DU roster and part of the nation's No. 11 recruiting class, according to College Gym News. She is a four-star recruit, one of three in Denver's incoming freshman class.
Gatin and her fellow incoming DU freshmen will seek to continue building off the experience earned by another young Denver roster during the 2026 season that saw DU advance to NCAA Regionals for the 27
th consecutive time and have at least one gymnast advance to NCAA Nationals for the 24
th time in the last 25 seasons.
