DENVER – The University of Denver women's volleyball team has added three more signees to the 2019 class, welcoming incoming freshman KyIra Porch, Memphis Glasgow, and transfer student Amanda Green to next year's roster.
"We are very excited to welcome Memphis, KyKy and Amanda to the Denver Volleyball Family," said head coach
Tom Hogan. "The level of talent in the DU gym will be at an all-time high next fall, and we anticipate these three making an immediate impact both on and off the court."
Porch joins the Pioneers as a libero from Gilbert, Ariz., where she attended Basha High School. During her time as a Basha Bear, Porch was named an Arizona All-American, All-Premier Region and All-CUSD. She was also a Five-Time "Player of the Match" and the school's dig leader, totaling 719 to rank first in her region and third in the state. Coming to Denver, Porch hopes to major in criminology and minor in psychology, planning to become either a forensic psychologist or an author after graduation.
"I chose the University of Denver because of the diverse culture, not only in volleyball but also academically," said Porch. "After viewing schools such as The University of Arizona, Arizona State, Howard University and Bethune Cookman University, I continually looked for the school that was the best fit for me. After meeting the coaching staff and the girls at Denver, I immediately knew DU was where I belonged. Not only am I being provided the ability to play volleyball at the next level, but DU has given me the opportunity to do it around girls and coaches who are supportive. Overall, Denver is the best fit for me and I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else."
Glasgow will head to Denver in the fall of 2019, leaving her home in Manhattan Beach, Calif. The outside hitter attended Mira Costa High School for four years where she was named team MVP her freshman and senior seasons. The California native was also named All-Area team in 2019, All-Varsity Player of the Bay League in 2019 and Player to Watch List in 2018. When she's not on the court, Glasgow enjoys hiking, wakeboarding and traveling. She is undecided on her major, but would like to pursue a career in either teaching or marine biology.
"I chose the University of Denver because the first time I visited I fell in love with the scenery and school, along with how welcoming the team and coaches were," said Glasgow.
Amanda Green will transfer from Louisville as she begins her graduate program at the University of Denver next fall. The Skokie, Ill. native played on the USA college national team and won a gold medal in the European global challenge in 2017, and excelled in the classroom as a member of ACC Honor Roll and Athletic Directors Honor Roll. In 2018 she totaled 328 kills (2
nd most on the team), 206 digs, and averaged 2.9 kills per set in the ACC. Green plans to pursue her master's degree in Marketing Communication.
"I chose the University of Denver because of the great academics, volleyball program and community," said Green.
Porch, Glasgow and Green will join Brianna Green, Lorrin Poulter, Kalea Fobert and Ari Winters to make up next year's 2019 incoming class.
