Denver Suffers 4-1 Defeat to UC Santa Barbara

DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team fell 4-1 to UC Santa Barbara on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Pios to 7-8 overall.

The day opened with the teams trading blows in the doubles matches. The Pioneers got the early lead thanks to a 6-2 win from Daniel Krulig/Eric Morris but the Gauchos got a victory at the No. 1 position to tie it up. With the doubles point up for grabs the No. 2 match went to a tiebreaker where UCSB would win 10-8 to grab the point.

UC Santa Barbara won the first two singles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the match but Mattia Ros got Denver on the board with a 6-2, 7-5 win at the No. 2 position. The remaining three matches went into a third set but the Gauchos clinched the match with a win at the No. 3 position.

Next up: Denver returns to the court on Saturday April 6 for a Summit League matchup at Oral Roberts at 12 pm MT.
