DENVER – Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez will appear at the University of Denver's gymnastics meet on Sunday, March 10, when No. 6 Denver hosts No. 18 Nebraska, No. 21 Arizona State and Pittsburgh at 2 p.m. in Magness Arena.
Hernandez will serve as DU's honorary captain for the meet. She will also take part in a question-and-answer session with the group that purchases the most tickets. Groups have until Thursday, March 7, at 5:30 p.m. to purchase their tickets.
Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $5 each by contacting
Max Miller at
max.g.miller@du.edu or 303-871-6048.
In 2016, Hernandez competed at the Rio Olympic Games and earned a gold medal as a member of Team USA's women's gymnastics team. She also took home the silver medal in the balance beam event final.
Denver is coming off the program's highest-ever road score (197.775) last weekend at Illinois. The Pioneers are ranked No. 6 overall in the nation for the fourth consecutive week.
Sunday's meet is Denver's final home competition of the 2019 season. The Pioneers will celebrate their four seniors in the final home meet of their careers. DU will also host a "Carnival on the Concourse" as part of its fan appreciation meet.
