SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA. – The University of Denver men's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 win over UNLV.
The teams skipped doubles for the day due to weather and went straight to singles competition where the Pioneers would dominate the Rebels.
Matt Summers picked up the first point for Denver after his opponent retired, trailing 6-5, 5-1.
Mattia Ros picked up a 6-4, 7-6 win at the No. 2 position and
James Davis followed suit and won 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot to give DU an early 3-0 lead.
UNLV got one back with a 6-3, 6-4 win from the No. 4 position but
Ignatius Castelino secured the victory for DU with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 victory from the No. 5 spot.
