DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team is on the road for a pair of Summit League matches against Illinois State and North Dakota. The Pios will take on ISU on Friday at 11 a.m. MT and North Dakota on Sunday at 9 a.m. MT.
DU is 8-8 overall but sits atop the Summit League standings with a perfect 3-0 record. The Pioneers hold league wins over Valparaiso (5-2), Drake (4-3) and Oral Roberts (5-2) this season with four regular season matches remaining. Sophomores Matt Summers and Mattia Ros lead the Pios in singles play combining for a record of 19-10 from the No. 1 and 2 positions. Fellow sophomore James Davis has also been solid for Denver this season, going 9-5 from the No. 3 and 4 positions. Davis and Summers have been a lethal doubles pair for the Pioneers, going 9-4 at No. 1 while Ros and Pedro Fernandez Del Valle are 8-5 from the No. 2 position. Illinois State is 12-10 overall and 0-3 in the Summit League while North Dakota is 11-8 and 2-1 in the league.
