Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Denver Wins 4-3 over New Mexico in Final Regular Season Match

DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team closed out the regular season on Sunday, winning 4-3 over New Mexico. The Pios end the regular season at 12-8 overall.

Denver opened the day with a thrilling win in doubles competition. Mattia Ros/Pedro Fernandez Del Valle knocked off Facundo Bermejo/Dominic West 6-2 at No. 2 but the Lobos won at No. 1 to even the score. Daniel Krulig/Eric Morris clinched the point with a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over Tim Buttner/Nicolas Prieto at No. 3.

New Mexico answered right back in singles, picking up a victory at No. 1 to even the score. Denver then got back in front after Ignatius Castelino won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 and Fernandez Del Valle won 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. The Lobos evened the score after a victory from the No. 3 position but Summers clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 at the No 2 position.

Up next: Denver will return to action on Friday, April 26 one the first day of the Summit League tournament.
