Pioneers Seek Fifth Summit League Championship

The Denver Pioneers men's tennis team (12-8, 6-0) is set to take its five-match winning streak and Summit League regular season title into the conference tournament from April 26-27 in Tulsa, Okla.

After dispatching Omaha and New Mexico in the final week of the regular season, top-seeded Denver will begin pursuit of its fifth tournament championship in six years on Friday, April 26 against Oral Roberts.

Sophomores Mattia Ros and Matt Summers have done the heavy lifting for the Pioneers on the singles courts with Ros posting a 13-6 record, going 8-5 at No. 1, and Summers recording a 12-7 mark, going 3-3 at No. 1 and 7-3 at No. 2. Redshirt junior Igantius Castelino has also brought consistency for Denver with a combined 14-5 record at No. 4, 5 and 6.

Denver's doubles tandems of James Davis/Summers at No. 1, Ros/Pedro Fernandez Del Valle at No. 2 and Daniel Krulig/Eric Morris at No. 3 have helped the team to a combined 34-15 record in doubles play. Ros/Fernandez Del Valle have the most wins with a 12-4 record at No. 2.

First serve on Friday is set for 2 p.m. MT. The Summit League Championship is set for Saturday, April 27 at 12:00 p.m. MT
