SPARKS, Md.– Former University of Denver men's lacrosse faceoff specialist Trevor Baptiste has been named to the 2019 United States World Indoor Lacrosse Championship Team, U.S. Lacrosse announced on Thursday.
 
This year's championship will take place Sept. 19-28 in Langley, B.C.
 
Earlier this month, attackman Mark Matthews was named to Team Canada for the 2019 Men's Indoor Lacrosse Team.
 
Canada won gold in 2015, while the United States took bronze.
 
Matthews was named the National Lacrosse League's Most Valuable Player in 2018 after setting a new NLL single-season record with 84 assists and leading the league with 116 points to set a new career high and Rush franchise record. The former Pioneer was second in the league in points (113) in 2017 with 73 helpers.
 
Baptiste was the sixth-player in the history of the sport to earn first team All-America honors in all four years of his collegiate career. In addition, Baptiste was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2015, helping the Pioneers to their first National Championship in program history. In his rookie year in the NLL in 2019, Baptiste had seven assists, picked up 179 loose balls and won 68% of his faceoffs.
