Denver Keeps Fourth-Straight Cleansheet to Open 2019

The Pioneers defeated Kent State 1-0 on Saturday night

DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer team used a fourth-straight cleansheet to start the senior campaign of goalkeeper Brittany Wilson (Littleton, Colo.) to finish this season-opening homestand 3-0-1 with a 1-0 victory over Kent State on Saturday night at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

"Every game that we've started here at home, we've been on fire, and tonight was no different," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "We had a goal called back early and produced several chances, and after that, I thought that our players started to play like they could get the same results with less effort, and you can't drop off like that against a team that's as good as Kent State. Overall, we closed the game out pretty well. We'll take another cleansheet."

Wilson tied her season-high with four stops on Saturday.

Denver got its goal in the 39th minute off a corner kick from senior co-captain Hannah Adler (Oak Park, Calif.) Adler played her service right on-top of the six-yard box before Kent State's Karly Hellstrom's attempted clearance glanced off the wrong side of her head and into the back of Denver's net.

Adler had the first two goals in Denver's 3-0 win over [24/11] Texas on Thursday night.
