The University of Denver volleyball earned its third win of the weekend in a 3-0 sweep against Seattle on Saturday night.

The win keeps the Pioneers undefeated on the season while handing SU their first loss of the year.

Coming into the matchup undefeated, the Pioneers were put to the test in the opening set, battling through ten different ties and seven lead changes throughout. Denver finally broke the tie at 19 with a kill from junior standout Lydia Bartalo who led the Crimson and Gold in kills for a third straight contest with 10 and helped the Pios seal the first set 25-20.

The Redhawks came out strong in set two but the Pioneers began to work in their defensive attack, recording four blocks in the set, three of those coming from Brianna Green. The freshman had a career night, recording five blocks in the third match of her collegiate career. Junior Tina Boe also added five blocks of her own, adding to her already impressive career totals.

Running away with a 25-23 set two victory, the Pioneers were challenged once again in set three. Seattle found themselves on top five different times but Denver refused to back down. Determined to complete their weekend sweep, the Pios cashed in three of the final five points of the match walking away with a 25-22 advantage in set three to take home the win and remained unbeaten at home on the year.  

Other Denver leaders included Ellie Anderson and Andrea Eddy who each put up 14 assists for the Pioneers while Macy Carrabine led the team for a third straight match with nine digs.

DU returns to action in Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday as they take on Sacramento State in their first road game of the season.
