Pioneers Open Year with Washington State Cougar Cup

Two-day event begins on Monday

DENVER –The University of Denver women's golf team makes its 2019-20 season debut this upcoming Monday with the Washington State Cougar Cup. The Pioneers will play at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.

Washington State will play host to a 15-team field, which features a strong presence of Pac-12 schools in California, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and the Cougars.

Par for the 6,239-yard course is 72.

Head coach Lindsay Kuhle is going with a lineup of Mary Weinstein, Anna Zanusso, Alyson Bean, Erika Danielsson and Anna Krekling.

DU goes young with the trio Zanusso, Danielsson and Krekling, all of whom are making their freshmen debuts in the tournament.

The Crimson and Gold, coming off an 18th straight NCAA Regional appearance last year, look to build upon a strong tradition established through years of good play and consistency. Denver brings back 2019 Summit League Golfer of the Year Weinstein, who had a stellar summer of tournament play that resulted in three individual victories.

Bean looks to continue her solid play after an impressive freshman campaign in 2018-19.

Zanusso looks to make a major impact, coming into the program ranked 63th in the world according to the World Golf Amateur Rankings (WGAR). The ranking is the highest by an incoming freshman in program history.

Both Krekling and Danielsson each come from strong European amateur careers.
