•   Western Illinois improved to 8-9 overall and 2-2 in league play after a 79-68 win over Purdue Fort Wayne in its last contest on Jan. 9.
•   The Leathernecks are shooting a Summit League worst 61.4 percent from the free throw line.
•   Western Illinois is averaging 8.4 made 3s per game to lead the Summit League.
•   Olivia Kaufmann is leading the team with a 16.1 scoring average and Evan Zars' 10.2 rebounds per game is a team-high.
A FREE THROW GAME
•   Denver and Western Illinois are first and second in the Summit League in free throw attempts and free throws made.
•   The Pioneers are first with 286 free throws made, while Western Illinois is second with 240.
•   The Leathernecks have attempted 391 free throws for the best-mark in the league, while Denver is second at 369.
KEEP AN EYE ON NELSON
•   Senior
Madison Nelson was named to the inaugural Her Hoop Stats Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List on Jan. 6.
•   The Dover, Minnesota native is leading the Pioneers in four statistical categories; points (16.9), rebounds (10.9), steals (2.4), and blocks (1.8).
A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER
•   Nelson was named the Summit League Female Athlete of the Month for her outstanding play in December.
•   She recorded career-highs in points (31), steals (6), and blocks (8) during the month.
•   The senior averaged a team-leading 9.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 2.9 steals, and 33.3 minutes per game, while scoring 15.4 points per game for the second-best mark on the team for December.
•   Nelson notched three double-doubles and her second 15-15 game of the season last month.
