DENVER – After extending its winning streak to six games with a sweep against St. Cloud State last weekend, the Denver Pioneers hockey team (15-4-3, NCHC 5-3-2-1) moved up to 4^th in the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls.
 
The Pioneers earned 823 points in the USCHO.com poll on a ballot submitted by 50 voters, including coaches, beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. Cornell ranked 1^st with 956 points and 21 first-place votes, while North Dakota took 2^nd with 956 points and 17 first-place votes and Minnesota State took 3^rd with 928 points and 12 first-place votes. Denver received 403 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll conducted in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) with input from coaches and members of the media from each of the six Division I college hockey conferences as well as officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey. Cornell took 1^st with 485 points and 20 first-place votes, while North Dakota ranked 2^nd with 480 points and eight first-place votes and Minnesota State ranked 3^rd with 453 points and six first-place votes. The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) had three teams ranked in the USCHO poll: North Dakota (1) Denver (4) and Minnesota Duluth (8). The NCHC had three teams ranked in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll: North Dakota (1), Denver (4) and Minnesota Duluth (8).
