Pioneers to Host 2021, 2022 & 2026 NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The Denver Pioneers men's hockey team has been selected to host the NCAA West Regional for the 2022 & 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Championship at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo., the NCAA announced on Wednesday.

Loveland was originally selected as the host city for the 2020 & 2021 West Regional. With the cancellation of the 2019-20 postseason, 2021 will mark the first year in which an NCAA hockey tournament event has been held in the state of Colorado since the 2008 Men's Frozen Four at the Pepsi Center in Denver

"We are thrilled to host the regional in Loveland," Richard and Kitzia Goodman Head Coach David Carle said. "Loveland is a great hockey community that deserves an event like this. Also, for the first time in a long time, our great fans will be able to drive to watch us compete in the NCAA tournament as we strive for our program's ninth national championship."

Denver has made 29 appearances in the NCAA tournament, 16 appearances in the Frozen Four and won eight National Championships. The Pioneers have made 12-straight appearances in the NCAA tournament and have advanced to the Frozen Four in three of the last four years of competition.

During Wednesday's announcement, the NCAA revealed the championship sites across 86 sports for the 2022-26 seasons.
