Denver Hockey Mourns the Loss of George Congrave

The Denver Pioneers hockey team mourns the loss of University of Denver Hall-of-Famer George Congrave who passed away last week.

Congrave was a sophomore on the 1957-58 team preparing for his first season with the Pioneers when he was injured in a preseason practice and sustained a life-altering injury. His prognosis rendered him paralyzed in critical condition however with his dedication to the recovery he was able to return to classes in 1961 and graduate in 1983. Upon graduation, Congrave worked in baking and real estate before returning to DU to work in the athletic department. He is a cherished member of the DU community and his legacy will be remembered forever.
