DENVER - The University of Denver hockey program had 10 alumni on NHL Opening Day rosters for the 2025-26 season.
 
Denver hockey is tied for third in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference for players being a part of this season's opening day rosters. Only North Dakota (13) and St. Cloud State (11) sent more athletes than the Pioneers. Minnesota Duluth was also tied with 10.
 
There was a record number of 247 former college hockey players listed on NHL rosters for opening night. Denver ranked eighth among all schools in the country for sending the most athletes into this NHL season.
 
DU alums rostered in the NHL to start this year are Bobby Brink (Philadelphia), Zeev Buium (Minnesota), Devin Cooley (Calgary), Scott Mayfield (NY Islanders), Trevor Moore (Los Angeles), Troy Terry (Anaheim) and Jason Zucker (Buffalo). Sean Behrens and Logan O'Connor of the Colorado Avalanche and Shai Buium of the Detroit Red Wings are starting the season on their team's injured reserve/non-roster list.
 
NCHC squads produced 61 alumni who were named to 2025-26 NHL rosters, with 50 having played in the conference's 12-year history. The NCHC is represented by players on 26 different teams to start the season.
 
In 2024-25, 65 NCHC hockey players dressed in at least one game in the NHL. Entering the 2025-26 NHL season, 114 players produced by NCHC have played at least a contest. This includes Denver's very own Zeev Buium (Minnesota), Brink (Philadelphia), Danton Heinen (Vancouver/Pittsburgh), Mayfield (NY Islanders), Carter Mazur (Detroit), Dakota Mermis (Toronto/Utah), Ian Mitchell (Boston), Trever Moore (Los Angeles), Troy Terry (Anaheim) and Zucker (Buffalo) who all suited up in games last season.
