GREELEY, COLO. – The University of Denver women's basketball team fought hard before falling late to Northern Colorado, 75-74 on Tuesday at the Bank of Colorado Arena.

Turning Point:
A late foul from Malonga with 32 seconds left sent Hannah Simental to the line, who made both free throws to put UNC up 75-74.
As it Happened:
First Quarter:
Back-and-forth battle from the two teams in the opening 10 minutes of action. Denver was able to force Northern Colorado into tough shots, limiting them to 7-for-20 shooting (35 percent), to keep it close, trailing 19-18.
Second Quarter:
Boyd continued to cause all kinds of problems for the Bears on the offensive end en route to 21 first-half points, highlighted by 15 coming from beyond the arc as the Pioneers went into the break down one, 36-35.
Third Quarter:
Northern Colorado made its move, outscoring DU 24-17. Denver had a tough 10 minutes shooting from the field, finishing the quarter 5-for-15 (33.3 percent), and 1-of-9 from deep.
Fourth Quarter:
The Pioneers worked their way back into this with a 15-9 run over a 5:23 stretch midway through the quarter, tying things at 71 after a made jumper from Boyd with 2:47 left in regulation. DU got the lead at 74-73 with 38 seconds left after Malonga got the layup off a great feed from Boyd. But, the Bears were able to take advantage on a costly foul from Malonga on Simental with 22 seconds, making both free throws.
Sam Deem had a chance for the win at the end, but her shot just missed.

DU heads north to face Wyoming (0-0) on Dec. 5 in Laramie.
