Ezeudu Scores Career-High 26 in Loss at Wyoming

Cowgirls use late run to get past Pioneers

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The University of Denver women's basketball team couldn't overcome a late-game run from Wyoming on Saturday, falling 79-67 in the Arena-Auditorium.

Significant Stats:
- Uju Ezeudu had a career-high 26 points in the loss.
- Pioneers' 69 points were a season low.
- Denver knocked down a season-high 12 3s.

Inside the Box Score:
- Meghan Boyd was held to just 11 points in the contest, a season low.
- Sam Deem had a career-high eight points.
- Anna Jackson with a season-high eight points.
- DU dropped to 1-1 on the year when leading at the half.

"I thought Uju came off the bench and gave us some good minutes. We have to get much better at guarding the paint. Overall, I thought there were some positive things we did out there. A late 10-0 run from Wyoming over the final 3:53 to close out the game.
 
As it Happened:
First Quarter:
Denver overcame a slow opening first few minutes to jump out to a six-point lead after one, 18-12. Pioneers got a strong start from Ezeudu, who had 10 points in the quarter.
 
Second Quarter:
Both teams traded baskets against the other with the Pioneers getting their biggest lead of the afternoon at 23-17 after a jumper from Boyd at the 6:55 mark, her second made field goal of the game. DU took a two-point lead into the break, 37-35.
 
Third Quarter:
Wyoming got a hot-shooting quarter from the floor (9-for-17) to tie things up at 54-54 by the end of the third. The Crimson and Gold were able to offset the Cowgirls' shooting a little by knocking down three 3s in the quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter:
Denver opened the final quarter strong, getting a 5-0 run from Deem herself to take a 59-54 advantage within the first 46 seconds. Wyoming immediately responded with an 8-0 run of their own to retake the lead. A 3 from Boyd cut the Cowgirl lead to two at 69-67, giving the sophomore 11 points in the game. Wyoming broke it open from there, going on a 10-0 run the final 3:53 get the win.
 
Up Next:
DU (1-2) has its home opener against Colorado on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
