DENVER – Freshman forward
Carter Savoie of the No. 8 Denver Pioneers hockey team was named NCHC Co-Rookie of the Week with Riese Gaber (North Dakota) for the week of Dec. 7-13, the conference announced on Monday.
Savoie had two goals, one assist, nine shots and a +1 rating in three games last week. The St. Albert, Alberta native scored the game-winner in Denver's 3-2 win against No. 1 North Dakota on Dec. 8, then added another goal in the Pioneers' 5-1 win against Miami on Dec. 10 to become the first Pioneer freshman to score in the first five games of his career. He is tied for the NCAA lead in goals (6) and goals per game (1.00) through six games.
