DENVER – Despite a strong second-half effort, the University of Denver women's basketball team fell to New Mexico State on Tuesday, 81-72 in Hamilton Gymnasium.

Significant Stats:

- DU had four players with at least two steals.
- Meghan Boyd chipped in with 10 points, her sixth straight game in double figures.

Turning Point:
A late layup from Aaliyah Prince with 37 seconds left in regulation, pushing the game back to a three-possession contest at 79-71.

As it Happened:
First Quarter:
New Mexico State opened fast, racing out to a 27-11 advantage by the end of the quarter using a 12-for-18 shooting performance from the field to build the big lead.

Second Quarter:
Aggies were able to extend their lead to 22 at 45-23 after a jumper from Rodrea Echols at the 2:24 mark. DU was able to close a little late, trailing 45-26 going into the break.

Third Quarter:
The Crimson and Gold opened the second half with a sense of urgency, using a quick 6-0 run to make it a 13-point contest at 45-32. New Mexico State, though, answered and kept the lead in double figures the rest of the quarter, going up 61-46.

Fourth Quarter:
Denver finished the final 10 minutes strong, getting the contest back to a two-possession game late after a made free throw from Ezeudu made it 77-71, giving the sophomore 22 points on the evening. But a big basket from NMSU shortly after put this one out of reach for good.
