DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball couldn't take advantage of a fast start, falling 70-68 to Texas State in Hamilton Gymnasium on Saturday.

Sam Hines Jr. had his best game yet as a Pioneer, finishing with 15 points and four assists.

As it Happened:
First Half:
Denver was dominant in the opening 20 minutes of play, outscoring the Bobcats 42-23. The Pioneers were getting everything they were looking for on the offensive end, finishing the half 15-for-22 (68.2 percent) shooting. Townsend was especially effective, scoring 15 points during the period.
Second Half:
It was vice versa for DU in the final 20 minutes, getting outscored by Texas State, 47-26. Denver went cold from the floor, going 8-for-24. The Pioneers also saw their turnover issues emerge, allowing for TSU to get points in transition and build momentum on the way to the comeback win.

DU (1-5) wraps up the non-league portion of its schedule with Northern Arizona (0-3) on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
