DENVER – The University of Denver women's gymnastics team has revealed its 2021 competition schedule, featuring nine regular season meets beginning on January 15.
On Denver's schedule are home-and-away meets against fellow Big 12 Conference teams Oklahoma, Iowa State and West Virginia. Other opponents include primarily local and regional teams.
Four of DU's 2021 opponents appear in the top 25 of the WCGA Preseason Coaches' Poll: No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 17 BYU, No. 18 Iowa State and No. 23 Southern Utah. DU is tied for No. 8 in the preseason rankings.
Denver will open its 2021 season on the road at Iowa State on January 15 before hosting three consecutive home meets. Air Force will travel up I-25 to Denver on January 24, and Iowa State will visit on January 31 to close out the first month of competition.
All four of DU's February meets feature a Big 12 opponent, beginning with Oklahoma and Temple traveling to Denver on February 7. DU takes on West Virginia in back-to-back weekends, first at WVU on February 11 and then in Denver on February 21. The month ends with a trip to Oklahoma with Texas Woman's and Lindenwood on February 26.
Two Utah teams make the trip to Denver on March 7 when DU hosts Southern Utah and Utah State for the Pioneers' final home meet of the season. Denver concludes the regular season with a road meet at BYU with Illinois State on March 11.
The postseason begins with the 2021 Big 12 Championship on March 20, hosted by West Virginia. NCAA Regional competition will be held April 1-3 at four campus sites: the University of Missouri, the University of New Hampshire, the University of Utah and West Virginia University.
After the cancellation of the 2020 postseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 will be the second year of the new three-day regional format. Nine teams will compete at each regional site, beginning with a first-round dual meet on April 1. The remaining eight teams will then compete across two quad meets on April 2 with four spots in the April 3 regional final on the line. The top two teams from each regional's final meet will advance to the NCAA National Championships to be hosted in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 16-17.

Denver was enjoying a record-setting 2020 campaign when the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March. The Pioneers finished the season ranked No. 7 nationally and had spent the entire season ranked in the top seven, which included achieving a program-record No. 2 ranking in January. Among the milestones set in 2020 were new record team scores on bars (49.575) and beam (49.650), and four perfect 10.0s.
The Pioneers are preparing for the 2021 season, led by 2019 NCAA national floor co-champion, senior
Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) and fellow 2020 regular season All-American, junior
Alexis Vasquez (Arcadia, Calif.).
Denver welcomes five freshmen to the roster:
Rosie Casali (Weddington, N.C.),
Jessica Hutchinson (Gilbertsville, Pa.),
Isabel Mabanta (Frisco, Texas),
Rylie Mundell (Parker, Colo.) and
