DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball dropped its home contest to UC Riverside on Sunday in Hamilton Gymnasium, 83-63. The loss was the first of year for the Pioneers, who slipped to 1-1.

Significant Stats:
- Jase Townsend led the team with 16 points, his second game this year as the team's leading scorer.
- Frank Ryder, making his DU debut, scored 10 points off the bench.

Inside the Box Score:
- Denver's 63 points were a season low.
- Pioneers tied a season low with eight turnovers.
- Sam Hines Jr. scored nine points in his Denver debut.
- Tristan Green led the team with six boards, second time this season as the team's leading rebounder.
 
Turning Point:
An 11-2 run from the Highlanders to push their lead into double figures early in the first half.
 
As it Happened:
 
First Half:
UCR jumped out quick on Denver, taking a 20-8 lead within the first nine minutes of the contest. Pioneers couldn't get going offensively in the opening 20 minutes of action, entering the break trailing 48-29.
 
Second Half:
DU competed in the second half, playing it even with UC Riverside, who outscored them 35-34. Townsend and Ryder were able to get going and find their shot, with the two finishing in double figures.

DU (1-1) hits the road to take on Wyoming on Dec. 9.
