DENVER – The No. 5-ranked University of Denver women's gymnastics team set new school records on bars and beam on its way to a season high-tying 197.425 performance against George Washington on Sunday.
Senior
Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.) tied the program all-around record with a 39.775, and sophomore
Alexis Vasquez (Arcadia, Calif.) captured her second perfect 10.0 on beam of the season.
"There were unbelievable highlights with the new bars and beam records; Maddie tying DU's all-time all-around record; and Alexis' perfect 10," head coach
Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart said. "Each and every one of the athletes contributed to our success, and I'm really proud of their character, grit and determination."
A total of 5,475 fans attended Sunday's meet, which is the second-most in program history. Kutcher-Rinehart added, "It was an incredible crowd and incredible energy."
For the second week in a row, DU competed five-up, five-count on vault and earned a 49.150. Karr won her first of four titles in the meet with a 9.900. Junior
