No. 42 Denver Set to Host Cal Poly & Lamar

The No. 42 Denver Pioneers men's tennis team (10-1, 0-0) is set to resume its season with a pair of home matches this weekend. Denver will host Cal Poly on Friday, March 5, then play its final home match of the month against Lamar on Sunday, March 8.

The Pioneers come off a 4-3 win against BYU on Feb. 29. Pedro Fernandez del Valle was named Summit League Player of the Week after his 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) win at #5 clinched the match for Denver.

James Davis has been the Pioneers' top performer through the first part of the season. The junior from Barnstaple, England is 10-0 in singles play, winning nine of his 10 matches in straight sets. Davis' doubles partner Matt Summers has a 9-1 mark in singles play with a 7-1 record at #1. Together, the tandem ranks 52nd in the country with a 6-4 doubles record.

First serve on Friday is set for 5:30 p.m. MT at the Denver Tennis Park.
