Griggs and McCoy shoot 72
BANDON, Ore. – The University of Denver men's golf team wrapped up day one of the Bandon Dunes Championship on Sunday. The Pioneers fired a team score of 293, 9-over-par to finish tied for eighth in the 16-team field.
The three-day tournament is being played at the Bandon Dunes resort.
Par for 6,577-yard course was 71.
Oregon State leads all teams through one round of play at 3-under, three shots ahead of No. 21 UCLA.
Head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Cal McCoy, Carson Griggs, John Sand, Jun Ho Won and Jackson Solem.
Conner Jones also competed but as an individual.
McCoy and Griggs each finished out the day at 1-over with a 72 to finish out the round tied for 20th.
Won shot a 3-over 74 on the afternoon to wrap up tied in 43rd.
Solem tied for 57th at 4-over (75) with fellow Pioneer Jones.
Sand shot a 79 for the first round of the tournament.
Round two is set for Monday.
