DENVER – Seven University of Denver gymnasts earned a place on the Academic All-Big 12 Team, the Big 12 Conference announced on Thursday.
All seven of DU's honorees received first-team nods:
Junior
Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) – Media Studies major
Junior
Emily Glynn (Longmont, Colo.) – Biological Sciences major
Senior
Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.) – Business Analytics major
Sophomore
Natalie Morton (Waycross, Ga.) – Biological Sciences major
Sophomore
Alexandria Ruiz (Lake Mary, Fla.) – Biological Sciences major
Junior
Mia Sundstrom (Boulder, Colo.) – Business Analytics major
Sophomore
Alexis Vasquez (Arcadia, Calif.) – Media Studies major
The Academic All-Big 12 Team recognizes student-athletes who have maintained a GPA of at least 3.00, either cumulative or over the previous two semesters, while participating in at least 20 percent of the team's competitions. First team members hold GPAs of at least 3.20, and second team members have GPAs between 3.00-3.19.
Freshmen and transfer students are not eligible. Seniors who have participated for at least two years and meet all criteria except the percent of participation are also eligible.
This season, 100 percent of Denver's eligible student-athletes earned Academic All-Big 12 honors.
