DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – University of Denver head women's golf coach
Lindsay Kuhle has been named the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Central Section Coach of the Year, the association announced this week.
Kuhle, who was also named the Central Section Coach of the Year in 2011, will begin her ninth season in charge of the women's golf program in 2020-21. In addition, Kuhle spent seven seasons on the DU staff as an assistant and associate head coach from 2005-12. Kuhle was named the Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2013, and has earned the Summit League Coach of the Year honor in five of her six seasons in the league. Under Kuhle's leadership, the Pioneers have won six league championships and have extended the program's NCAA Regional appearance streak to 18-straight.
Denver's 2019-20 team finished 42
nd in the Golfweek rankings, 10
th in team grade point average and Kuhle coached Italian Amateur match-play runner-up and freshman
Anna Zanusso, who tied the NCAA single round record of 61 this spring at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Ariz.
Professionals' membership has selected the recipients of the annual section Teacher, Professional, Coach, and Junior Golf Leadership awards. Each of the six sections of the LPGA Professionals—Central, Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, Western, and International—winners are selected by the Section Officers and Section Nominating Committee Chair annually in each of the four categories.
The LPGA Executive Committee will select the overall national award winner in each category from among the 2019 and 2020 section award winners. The national winners will be announced in the coming weeks.
