DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball team shook off a slow first quarter en route to pouring in a season high in points in Friday's 89-71 victory of Oral Roberts. The Pioneers picked up their first Summit League win of the season in the contest.
Inside the Box Score:
- Meghan Boyd found her groove from deep, knocking down five 3s on the way to a game-high 20 points.
- Uju Ezeudu recorded her first double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
- Both Emily Counsel and Anna Jackson had career days scoring, finishing each with 18 points.
- Keni Jo Lippe led the Golden Eagles with 16 points.
Significant Stats:
- Pioneers made 11 3s on the day, fourth time this year in double figures.
- The Crimson and Gold's 89 points were a season high.
Turning Point:
DU shaking off an 11-0 run from ORU to start the third quarter and closing it out with 23-9 run of its own the rest of the quarter.
As it Happened:
First Quarter:
A rough-shooting quarter hurt the Pioneers in the first 10 minutes of action. The Golden Eagles took an 18-9 lead.
Second Quarter:
Pioneers took command in the quarter, outscoring ORU 26-13. Ezeudu really found her groove in the quarter, scoring nine of her 13 first-half points. The defense of DU was the story though, holding Oral Roberts to just 5-for-17 (29 percent) shooting.
Third Quarter:
Denver found its rhythm after the Golden Eagles opened the quarter with an 11-0 run. The Pioneers responded back with a game-changing 23-9 run of their own the final 6:52.
Fourth Quarter:
Some hot shooting from beyond the arc powered the DU offense as it erupted to go 6-for-8 from deep in the final 10 minutes, helping give Denver 31 points for the quarter, its highest of the game.

Denver (3-8, 1-2 Summit League) wraps up the home series with Oral Roberts with game two on Saturday at 3 p.m. MT.
