Significant Stats:
  • Pioneers made seven 3s on the day, the 11th time in 12 games they have made at least seven.

Turning Point:

As it Happened:
First Quarter:

Oral Roberts got out to a hot start shooting, taking a 23-20 edge through 10 minutes. Denver was carried in the quarter by Counsel, who came off the bench to score 10 points, highlighted by knocking down two 3s.

Second Quarter:
Counsel continued her offensive assault in the second, pouring in another 10 points as the Pioneers kept it a one-possession game going into the half, trailing 44-41.

Third Quarter:
Oral Roberts pushed its lead to seven points after three by dialing up the defense on DU. The Crimson and Gold were held to 5-for-13 from the field.

Fourth Quarter:
Gritt stepped up and tried to power the Pioneers to a win after Counsel with down with a leg injury midway through the quarter. The senior scored 13 points in the final 5:36 to give Denver a chance but a late basket from ORU with 18 seconds proved costly. The Crimson and Gold had a chance to win it at the buzzer but Jackson's attempt came up short.
