The Pioneers fell 4-3 to Colorado College on Friday at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Ryan Barrow's goal 38 seconds into the third period cut the Tigers' lead to 3-2, but the turning point happened 40 seconds later when Connor Mayer drifted a shot from the blue line to put Colorado College ahead by two goals again. Mayer's goal stood as the game-winner.

- Carter Savoie was named NCHC Rookie of the Month for December after leading NCHC rookies in scoring with 11 points (7-4-11) in 10 games in the NCHC Pod
- Savoie is T-1st in the NCAA in goals (7) and is 2nd the NCAA in power-play goals (4). He leads NCAA freshmen in both categories. Mike Benning is 1st among NCAA freshmen in points (8), assists (6) and power-play points (4)
- Freshmen have accounted for 46% of Denver's goals and 39% of its points. Five of six freshmen skaters have a point this season. Four have scored their first NCAA goals
- The Pioneers are wearing jersey patches with the letters "JB" honoring the late Joy Burns whose vast contributions to DU included becoming the first woman to chair the University of Denver Board of Trustees, which she did for 17 years, making direct contributions to the physical transformation of campus and helping the athletic department move to Division I
