DENVER – The Denver Pioneers men's tennis team is set to open the 2021 season at the ITA Kick Off in Fort Worth, Texas with No. 6 TCU, No. 12 Wake Forest and Oklahoma.
Denver is set to play No. 6 TCU on Saturday, Jan. 23. Depending on Saturday's results, Denver will play either No. 12 Wake Forest or Oklahoma Sunday, Jan. 24 in the championship or consolation match.
The abbreviated 2020 spring season saw Denver open the year on a nine-match winning streak and continue its success to finish with a 12-1 record and .923 winning percentage, its best mark under head coach
Ricardo Rubio. The Pioneers rose to 35
th in the nation on Feb. 18 and settled at 45
th when the last rankings were published.
James Davis &
Matt Summers were ranked the 42
nd best doubles tandem in the country last week and the team has added newcomers in freshmen
Charlie Miller, Nicholas Hurrero Cuesta and
Peter Sallay.
