Bison Pull Away Late From Pioneers in Fargo

Green scores career-high 16 points in loss

FARGO – The University of Denver men's basketball team, despite being undermanned, fought hard before falling late on Friday, losing 70-58 to North Dakota State in the Scheels Center.

Significant Stats:
- Tristan Green had his best game as a Pioneer, finishing with a career-high 16 points and eight rebounds.
- Eric Moenkhaus recorded his second game in double figures this season, chipping in with 10 points in his first collegiate start.
- ­­Rocky Kreuser led the way for the Bison with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Inside the Box Score:
- Taelyr Gatlin tied a career-high with 11 points.
- Sam Hines Jr. added nine points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes.
- Pioneers knocked down seven 3s for a third straight game.
 
Turning Point:
A 6-0 run by the Bison to push their lead back to nine after a three-point play from Kreuser made it 64-55.

As it Happened:
 
First Half:
Denver got the start it was looking for, racing out to a 9-0 run quickly. North Dakota State immediately countered with a 14-2 blitz to take control of the half while the Pioneers went cold from the field. A 3 from Green brought DU back to within four at 21-17, upping his total to five in the first 20 minutes of action. A late 7-2 run from the Bison gave them a 33-27 advantage at the break.
 
Second Half:
The Pioneers came out swinging to start the second period, fighting their way back to take the lead at 41-39 on the Gatlin jumper with 13:28 left in regulation. DU pushed its lead to as many as four after Green connected on a 3 at the 12-minute mark, 47-43. NDSU, though, was able to take the lead back after a big 3 from Tyree Eady made it 50-49. North Dakota State never looked back from there, extending its lead to double digits to secure the win.
 
Up Next:
Denver (1-11, 0-5 Summit League) closes out the road series with NDSU on Saturday. Tip is set for 6:30 PM MT and can be seen ESPN +.
