Box Score FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Denver men's tennis team played several tight matches against the No. 6 team in the country before falling to TCU 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Doubles
The Pioneers third doubles tandem of
Nicolas Herrero Cuesta and
Ignacio Rivero Crespo captured the first decided doubles match of the Pioneers 2021 season, taking the doubles set 6-4. Denver's other two doubles tandems kept their matches close, including
Mattia Ros and
Peter Sallay taking on the 24
th-ranked doubles team in the country, but both fell in tiebreakers.
Singles
TCU made it 3-0 with a pair of straight-set victories at No. 5 and No. 1 singles, before Sallay picked up the first singles set win of the young campaign, answering a 6-2 setback in set one with a 6-4 win in set two. The Horned Frogs won two additional singles matches in straight sets before Sallay's match was finished.
