DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball program was voted fifth in the 2021-22 Summit League Preseason Poll, the league office announced on Tuesday. In addition, junior guard
Meghan Boyd and junior forward
Uju Ezeudu were named to the Summit League Preseason Second Team.
Head coach
Doshia Woods enters her second season in charge of the program, following a season that saw the Pioneers earn the six seed in the Summit League Tournament a year ago after a non-conference slate highlighted by in-state wins against Air Force and Colorado.
Ezeudu was also named to the second team in the postseason voting seven months ago after averaging 15.2 points and 6.4 rebounds in 23 games for the Pioneers. The Denver forward finished in double figures 19 times, including 20 or more points in six games. Ezeudu had a career-high 32 points in the Pioneers first of two games at Kansas City last February in a 63-55 win.
Boyd earned All-Summit League honorable mention honors a year ago, averaging 15.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 23 games. She scored a career-high 31 points against Omaha in the penultimate game of the regular season. Boyd was seventh in the country and led the Summit League in free-throw shooting a year ago, shooting at an 89% clip.
