Game Preview: Denver Opens Home Slate vs. Missouri S&T Friday at 1 p.m. MT

Denver kicks off a five game homestand on Friday afternoon to continue a stretch of four games in nine days

DENVER  – The University of Denver women's basketball team will open its 2021-22 home slate on Friday when the Pioneers welcome Missouri S&T to Hamilton Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled at 1 p.m. MT.

Denver will continue its five game homestand on Monday when the Pioneers welcome Wichita State to Hamilton Gymnasium. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. MT. Team Notes:
  • Head Coach Doshia Woods has a 7-17 record, in her second season in 2021-22.
    • Prior to Denver, Woods spent 10 seasons on the Tulane women's basketball staff.
  • Denver returns three starters from last year's team. Meghan Boyd and Uju Ezeudu started 20 games apiece, while Anna Jackson started 19 last season.
    • The trio combined for 41.4 points and 15.7 rebounds per game.
    • The three combined for 39 points in Denver's opener, led by 19 from Ezeudu.
  • The Pioneers feature six newcomers, including three freshmen and three transfers.
    • Tess Santos had nine points in her Crimson and Gold Debut Tuesday, all in the second quarter, in Denver's loss to Air Force.
  • Denver is 26-19 in home openers in the program's history.
  • The Crimson and Gold were picked fifth in the Summit League Preseason Poll after earning the No. 6 seed in last year's tournament.
    • Ezeudu and Boyd were named to the Summit League Preseason Second Team.
