DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball team will open their 2021-22 season in Colorado Springs this week with a trip to the United States Air Force Academy. Opening tip is set for 6:30 p.m. MT on Tuesday.

Last Time Out:
Sixth-seeded Denver fell to third-seeded North Dakota State 79-67 in the Summit League Quarterfinal at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls in March.
Meghan Boyd led the Pioneers with a game-high 19, while
Uju Ezeudu added 16 points and eight rebounds.
DI Series History:
Denver is 17-2 in the Division I history between Denver and Air Force, winning 12-straight contests in the series before an 82-79 loss in the second of two meetings last season. The Pioneers won the first meeting last season 72-56 in Clune Arena.
Last Meeting:
Anna Jackson tallied the second double-double in her career with 15 points and 12 rebounds in an 82-79 loss to the Falcons inside Hamilton Gymnasium last December. The Pioneers shot 50-percent from the field in the loss and had five players in double figures for the first time in the campaign.

What's Next:
Denver will open its home slate on Friday against Missouri S&T. Tip off is set for 1 p.m. MT. It'll be the first meeting between the programs in the Pioneers' Division I era.
Team Notes:
- Head Coach Doshia Woods has a 7-16 record, starting her second season in 2021-22.
- Prior to Denver, Woods spent 10 seasons on the Tulane women's basketball staff.
- Denver returns three starters from last year's team. Meghan Boyd and Uju Ezeudu started 20 games apiece, while Anna Jackson started 19 last season.
- The trio combined for 41.4 points and 15.7 rebounds per game.
- The Pioneers feature six newcomers, including three freshmen and three transfers.
- Denver is 12-11 in season openers since joining Division I in 1998-99.
- The Pioneers are 5-0 in season openers against Air Force.
- The Crimson and Gold were picked fifth in the Summit League Preseason Poll after earning the No. 6 seed in last year's tournament.
- Ezeudu and Boyd were named to the Summit League Preseason Second Team.
