DENVER – The University of Denver women's lacrosse team announced today its 2022 regular-season schedule, with the Pioneers beginning the campaign on Feb. 13 at home against the University of Louisville Cardinals.
As the defending Big East champions, Denver will also host the 2022 conference championship at Peter Barton Stadium. The semifinals are set for Thursday, May 5 and the final is scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
Roughly a week earlier, DU will wrap up the regular season with two home games, the first of which will be against the in-state rival Colorado Buffaloes on April 27. The Pioneers close out the main campaign on senior day versus conference-foe Marquette on April 30.
Denver will have home-field advantage for six of its first nine games of the season, which includes a four-game homestand from Feb. 25 to March 9 versus Ohio State, UC Davis, Vanderbilt and 2021 NCAA national champion Boston College. The Pios will also face Fairfield University on March 15 and UConn in a Big East matchup on April 9 at Peter Barton Stadium this year.
The Pioneers' first road games of the campaign will take place in Northern California against the Stanford Cardinal on Feb. 18 and the California Golden Bears on Feb. 20. The team will also play at Michigan on March 13 before two games in San Diego, California, versus Drexel and San Diego State on March 25-27.
Denver opens its five-game conference slate on Saturday, April 2 at Butler University and will also play Big East road contests this season at Georgetown (April 15) and Villanova (April 23).
The first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament are presently scheduled to be held at campus sites, with Round 1 on May 13, Round 2 on May 15 and the Elite Eight set for May 21. The NCAA Final Four is May 27-29 at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Times for all of Denver's games will be finalized in the near future.
