Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Pioneers Sweep Jackrabbits, 3-0

Brookings, South Dakota – For the second time this season the Denver Pioneers volleyball team (2-0) swept its opponent, earning a 3-0 win at South Dakota State on Sunday at Frost Arena.  
 
Turning Point
Denver took control of the match with its early lead in the second set, taking a commanding 5-0 lead. Five points gave Denver enough cushion to survive a mid-set Jackrabbit run and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

First Set
After exchanging the first several points, Denver started its control of the set upon tying it 6-6. The Pioneers never trailed after Ari Winters' kill and continued to victory with the help of a four-point run that made it 14-8. From that point, Denver held at least a three-point lead for the rest of the set.  

Second Set
The Pioneers positioned themselves nicely with the aforementioned 5-0 run to open the set. South Dakota State drew within three points at 16-13, then closed the gap again at 17-16 before Denver took off to another win and 2-0 lead in the match.

Third Set
Denver went on a seven-point run to 9-2 to set up for a commanding finish to the match.

-Denver won the second set for the third straight match
-The Pioneers remain undeated against South Dakota State, improving to 15-0 against the Jackrabbits

Lorrin Poulter led the Pioneers with 12 kills
-Lydia Bartalo led Denver with 18 digs, while Macy Carrabine logged 14
-Brianna Green and Tina Boe had four total blocks each
-Erica Andrich led the Pioneers with a .429 hitting percentage
-Denver had a .315 hitting percentage and 44 total kills
