Brookings, S.D. – The Denver Pioneers volleyball team swept South Dakota State 3-0 for the second straight day on Monday, Feb. 15 at Frost Arena.
Turning Point
Denver went on a four-point run to close the first set. From that point forward, the Pioneers never trailed the Jackrabbits. The Crimson & Gold opened the second set on a 10-2 run.
1st Set
Denver spread the wealth in the first set with
Brianna Green,
Ari Winters and
Tina Boe each contributing three kills.
Erica Andrich led the Pioneers defensively with six digs. The Crimson & Gold went on two four-point runs during the set, including the stretch to close the frame.
2nd Set
Denver jumped out to a 10-2 lead before the first timeout and used that lead to keep separation from the Jackrabbits. South Dakota State called another timeout at 15-5. The Pioneers took six of the next seven points after the second timeout.
3rd Set
The Pioneers went on a 12-2 run midway through the set to convert a 14-12 lead into a 23-14 lead. The Jackrabbits only marginally closed the gap before Denver clinched the match.
