KANSAS CITY – The University of Denver men's basketball team fought hard before falling to Kansas City on Friday at the Swinney Center, 68-57.

Inside the Box Score:
- Kobey Lam led the team with 15 points, his third straight game in double figures.
- Roscoe Eastmond recorded a season-high 12 points off the bench to go with six assists in 30 minutes.  
- Marvin Nesbitt Jr. poured in a career-high 20 points off the bench to lead the Roos.  

Significant Stats:
- Jase Townsend had his seven-game streak of scoring in double figures snapped.
- Denver's 57 points tied for second lowest scoring output this year.
 
Turning Point:
A 16-3 run to open the second half for Kansas City.
As it Happened:
 
First Half:
Pioneers opened with a 7-2 run in the first 4:15. Kansas City, though, worked its way back into this, taking its first lead after Nesbitt Jr. converted a three-point play to go up 12-11. Both teams battled sluggish play and foul trouble the rest of the half, resulting in a 29-29 tie at the break.
 
Second Half:
Brandon McKissic gave the Roos a spark in the second half, scoring the first six points, forcing the Crimson and Gold to take a timeout, down 35-29. Kansas City kept its foot on the gas, building its lead to 13 by the 11:20 mark at 45-32, part of a 16-3 run.  The Pioneers closed to within four late after Lam connected on his fourth 3 of the evening, making it 53-49. But the Roos pushed away quickly after that, forcing DU to have to foul to extend the game. UMKC made its free throws at the line, securing the win.
