DENVER – Junior
Natalie Beckman scored the opener and assisted on two second half goals to lead the University of Denver women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Oral Roberts on Friday evening at the Diane Wendt Sports Complex.
Turning Point:
Beckman got a pass from
Sami Feller and banked her third goal of the season off the post to put the Pioneers ahead for good in the eighth minute.
First Half:
The Pioneers outshot Oral Roberts 9-3 in the opening 45 minutes putting four of their nine shots on target and taking the only three corner kicks of the first half.
Beckman's breakthrough came off a passage of play down the left flank. Feller fed Beckman who got to the endline, cut it back up the field and kissed her shot off the post and in for the ninth goal of her career. Feller's assist was her second of the season and the eighth of her career.
Second Half:
Denver wasted no time in the second half doubling its lead, courtesy of the 13
th career goal for
Camryn MacMillan. Kaitlyn Glover started the scoring sequence in the center of the park, spraying it out wide to Beckman down the Denver left. Beckman beat her defender to the endline, and cut it back to MacMillan just outside the near side of the six yard box. MacMillan let the ball come across her body and finished it first-time inside the far post. Glover's assist was the second of her career.
Less than four minutes later, Denver completed a near carbon copy of its second goal, with a couple of different players in the sequence. In the 52
nd minute it was Feller that found Beckman down the left. Beckman once again beat her defender to the end line and this time took a couple extra touches towards the box to free Glover's run at the top of the six. Glover's goal was the second of her career, while Feller earned assist number eight and Beckman tallied assists number 17 and 18 on the day.
