Denver Earns Fourth Win in Five Matches, Tops BYU 6-1

DENVER - The Denver Pioneers women's tennis team picked up its fourth win in its last five matches with a 6-1 victory against BYU on Saturday at the Denver Tennis Park.

Doubles wins from Britt Pursell/Camille Verden-Anderson at #2 and Toni Nelson/Anna Riedmiller at #3 helped Denver to an early advantage in the match. Leading 1-0, the Pioneers continued to win on five of six singles courts to solidify their victory and exact revenge on the Cougars, who defeated Denver 363 days ago in Provo, Utah. The Pioneers lead the all-time series with BYU, 9-8.

Riedmiler, Pursell, Verden-Anderson and Nelson won their matches in straight sets, with Verden-Anderson dropping only a single game. Melville won in a tiebreaker at #1.

Denver is set to host Colorado on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. MT.
