BROOKINGS, S.D. – The [-/30] University of Denver women's soccer team and South Dakota State shared the spoils on Friday afternoon at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium, tying 1-1 in the first of two matches between the two programs in Brookings this weekend.
First Half:
Natalie Beckman put the Pioneers in-front just inside 10 minutes in with her sixth goal of the season and the 12
th of her Denver career.
Alex Nillen earned her fourth career assist on the play. Nillen found Beckman out wide, who cut to the center of the field at the top of the box and placed it just inside the far post to give the Pioneers the advantage.
Second Half:
South Dakota State equalized in the 66
th minute on a goal from Maya Hansen. Eden Brooker played a cross into the box to the feet of Gabby Vivier-Hannay. Vivier-Hannay settled it to the feet of Hansen just to the right of the penalty spot, and Hansen slotted home her fifth goal in the last three matches to level the match at 1-1.
Extra Time:
Beckman had Denver's best chance of the second overtime, dispossessing the Jackrabbits in the build-up, but was forced into a shot from 25-yards out that was comfortably saved.
Significant Stats:
Denver's lead in the Summit League table is now seven points, nine matches into the 16-match Summit League slate.
Up Next:
Denver and South Dakota State will close out their two-match set on Sunday with kickoff set for 11 a.m. MT.
