The Pioneers go seven points clear of Summit League table

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of Denver women's soccer team got two goals in the first half and kept a cleansheet on the other end to defeat North Dakota 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Bronson Field.

Inside the Box Score:
Denver's two leading scorers Natalie Beckman and Sami Feller got on the scoresheet in Denver's 10^th win of the season.

The Pioneers outshot the Fighting Hawks 15-8, including 6-3 on target. Denver also took three of the four corner kicks.

First Half:
Denver took nine of the 11 shots in the first half, and finally that dominance paid off in the 25^th minute with Feller's seventh goal of the season. Beckman received it out wide before playing the overlapping run of Chaynee Kingsbury. Kingsbury played a cross to the back post, and a thundering header from Feller made it 1-0. Kingsbury's assist was her first of the season, while Beckman earned helper number 11 of the season and the 26^th of her career.

The Pioneers got the important second goal in the 40^th minute when Beckman converted from the penalty spot for her eighth goal of the season. Friday's hero Sydney Sharp touched the ball around her defender and was tripped up in the box to setup the spot kick.

Second Half:
The second half saw both teams go down to 10 players. On 52 minutes, starting centerback Devan McSwain tripped up her mark and was sent off for the denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity. In the 86^th minute, North Dakota's Hannah Olson was double booked and received her marching orders.

Significant Stats:

With the win, Denver moved seven points clear of Omaha for the top spot in the Summit League table.
Sami Feller's goal gives her 24 in her career (10^th in Denver's DI record book) and raises her career point total to 59 (13^th in DI record book).
Feller's game-winner was the 10^th of her career (6^th in DI record book).
Natalie Beckman's three-point day gave her career goal number 14, career assist number 26 (fifth in DI record book) and moved her career points total to 54 (16^th).

Up Next:
Denver will close out its Summit League home slate next weekend with a two-game set against Omaha. Friday's kickoff (March 26) is set for 6 p.m. MT.
