STANFORD – The University of Denver men's golf turned in its best round of the year, resulting in a tie for third place through round one of The Goodwin on Thursday. The Pioneers shot a 1-under 279 for the day.

Jackson Solem had his best round of his career, shooting a 6-under 64, putting him in third after 18 holes.
- Solem birdied five of the first seven holes on the front nine.

Cal McCoy opened the tournament with a 70, putting him in a tie for 20th.

Carson Griggs shot a 2-over 72 to finish up round one tied for 50th.
